How to Split Photos for Instagram

1

Upload your Panorama or Photo

Click "Open Image" or drag and drop your high-resolution photo onto the canvas. GridStudio supports JPG, PNG, and WebP formats.

2

Configure the Grid

Use the Layout tab to choose your grid style. For a classic profile square, choose 3x3. For a panoramic carousel, choose Portrait (4:5).

3

Customize & Preview

Add filters, adjust brightness, or insert a watermark. Click Profile Preview to see exactly how it will look on a phone screen.

4

Download & Post

Click Export to download a ZIP file. Important: Post the images in the order numbered (e.g., 1.png, 2.png) or enable "Upload Order" to simplify the process.

Master the Instagram Grid

Creating a giant square (or "banner") on your Instagram profile is a powerful way to make a first impression. Whether you are launching a product, announcing an event, or showcasing a landscape, a 9-grid split demands attention.

Pro Tip: Don't just split a photo. Use our Style Tab to add gaps and rounded corners. This creates a "window pane" effect that looks great even when the individual photos appear in your followers' feeds separately.

Common Grid Layouts

  • The Giant Square 3x3
  • The Vertical Banner 3x6
  • The Horizontal Strip 3x1

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this tool reduce image quality?
No. GridStudio uses the HTML5 Canvas API to process images at their native resolution. We also offer a JPG Quality slider in the Export tab so you can control the compression level yourself.
How do I post the images in the correct order?
Instagram fills your grid from bottom-right to top-left. To make this easy, check the "Upload Order" box in the Layout tab. This will number your files (1.png, 2.png, etc.) in the exact order you should upload them.
Can I save my work?
Yes! GridStudio V3 includes an auto-save feature that stores your layout, text, and color settings in your browser's local storage.
